Chemical Block Foam: Varieties and Applications

Chemical block foams are available in two very different formats the first is an extruded and laminated manufacture and the other is a plate pressing technology.

These foams find applications in a wide range of industries, including Packaging, Automotive, Aerospace, Electronics, Healthcare, Construction, Sports & Leisure, and Marine.

The key advantages of extruded and laminated cross-linked polyethylene foams include –

  • Uniform closed-cell structure
  • Stability and resistance to wear and tear
  • Good temperature resistance
  • Thermal insulation properties
  • Lightweight and ideal for shock absorption

Produced in densities from 25kg up to 140kg and are available in a wide range of colours to suit your application.

These foam materials are particularly well-suited for the building and construction industry due to their excellent thermal insulation properties, which also makes them ideal for frost blankets and eaves filler applications, thanks to their unique laminated structure.

Also utilised in the packaging sector, the tight cell structure and lightweight nature of chemical block foams make them perfect for both point-of-sale and transit packaging. Additionally, these foams are highly suitable for the sports and leisure market.

Plate compressed cross-linked polyethylene foams offer

  • A wide range of colours, including all primary colours in stock
  • Resistance to harsh chemicals and fluids
  • Ease of material processing

Thanks to this versatility and heavy density range, this material is also commonly used in the Orthotic industry.
