Foam Conversion For Retail Packaging

Polyethylene foam has many different variants which can be very specific to the end application. Some polyethylene foams have a very open cell structure that allows light to populate the cell structure. This gives it a sparkle aesthetic which is key for some point of sale campaigns.

There are also polyethylene foams available which have a very tight cell structure. It looks almost like suede, with a tight cell structure with nowhere for the light to penetrate. These foams have a matt finish.

Once you have decided on the type of finish you require for your application, you also need to consider the density of the foam. This is usually measured in kilos per cubic metre and generally ranges from 15kg up to 100kg and will be dependent on the application the foam is being used for.

Polyurethane Foam

Open cell Polyurethane foams are generally less rigid, dense as closed cell polyethylene foams, however these foams have their place in the retail / luxury packaging market.
